Children and Youth Ministries
The Nursery
Our nursery is located in the undercroft. All children,
preschool or younger, are welcome in the nursery. Ask an usher for details.
Godly Play
Better than Sunday School! Godly Play starts in September each year
and runs through May. Children are divided into two age groups - pre-school through 1st grade
and 2nd through 3rd grade. The Godly Play Bible stories use a teaching style
based on the Montessori learning method.
Club 45
For 4th and 5th Graders, meets Sundays at 9.45 a.m. from September through May.
Journey To Adulthood
This three-stage program leads youth through their teen years.
Rite-13 is for middle school students, giving them an opportunity to talk about changes in their
lives as they leave childhood behind.
Journey to Adulthood is a two-year program that culminates
in a youth-planned pilgrimage.
Young Adults in Church transitions older students to life beyond
high school. High school students are invited to be youth representatives on the Vestry, and
can administer the chalice at communion after their sixteenth birthday.
First Sundays
On the first Sunday of each month the regular formation activities
are shortened and the youth and children have a more visible role in the liturgy. They
serve at the altar, as lectors, ushers and Eucharistic Ministers! While First Sundays are
special, at Christ Church our children and youth are considered full participants in every
liturgy as members of the church.
